Opal collection

The Opal Collection brings together specimens of a mineral group renowned for its extraordinary optical properties, some varieties of which are highly valued and widely recognized as gemstones. Although opals could also be included within a gemstone collection, they have been separated into a distinct collection because of their unique mode of formation and the specific circumstances under which the specimens entered the museum, thereby constituting a coherent collection in their own right.
