Scorpions and pseudoscorpions collection

The Scorpion and Pseudoscorpion Collection contains material from Croatia collected since 1885 and continues to be actively expanded and scientifically studied. Most of the more recently collected material (from the last ten years) has been DNA barcoded.

The collection, as well as the scorpion fauna of Croatia, has undergone an extensive scientific revision. The results were published in the following scientific paper:

Podnar, M., Grbac, I., Tvrtković, N., Hörweg, C., & Haring, E. (2021). Hidden diversity, ancient divergences, and tentative Pleistocene microrefugia of European scorpions (Euscorpiidae: Euscorpiinae) in the eastern Adriatic region. Journal of Zoological Systematics and Evolutionary Research, 59, 1824–1849.
