Biology students visited the zoological storage facilities
1. Visit by students of the Faculty of Science, Department of Biology, as part of the course Medical and Veterinary Entomology
On 17 January 2023, students visited the Entomological Storage Facility of the Croatian Natural History Museum under the guidance of senior curator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vlatka Mičetić Stanković.
During the visit, they learned about museum material, methods of processing, protecting and preserving museum objects, the difference between a natural object, a museum object and an object in a museum, as well as the essential role and importance of museums and their collections in contemporary science.
During the visit, special emphasis was placed on objects of medical or veterinary significance.
2. Visit by students of the Faculty of Science, Department of Biology, as part of the course Invertebrata
On 23 and 27 January 2023, students visited the Storage Facility of the Croatian Natural History Museum – Zoological Department under the guidance of museum technician Denis Bućan, mag. oecol.
They learned about different methods of preparing zoological material, as well as its storage, processing and protection. The students had the opportunity to see the richness of the Museum’s zoological collections and learn about their importance from both a scientific and cultural perspective, with an emphasis on invertebrate collections.
3. Visit by students of the Faculty of Science, Department of Biology, beetle section of the biology students’ association “BIUS”
On 26 January 2023, students visited the Entomological Storage Facility of the Croatian Natural History Museum under the guidance of senior curator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vlatka Mičetić Stanković.
The aim of the visit was to become familiar with the Museum’s beetle collections and to strengthen the necessary cooperation between the section and the Museum.
