25–28 April 2025
🌿 Join us at the start of City Nature Challenge 2025! 🌿
Friday, 25 April at 10:00 AM – in front of the Krleža Monument on Dubravkin put
Dear nature lovers,
Join us on Friday, 25 April at 10:00 AM in front of the Krleža Monument on Dubravkin put for the launch of City Nature Challenge 2025 – a global initiative in which your city can shine on the world map of biodiversity!
📷 All you need is a smartphone, an open eye, and curiosity to record plant and animal species you encounter in the city.
🌍 Discover the nature that surrounds us every day, contribute to scientific research, and help protect urban biodiversity.
The event runs from 25 to 28 April 2025, during which cities around the world engage their residents and visitors in recording species and improving understanding of urban biodiversity. Observations are submitted via the iNaturalist platform during this period.
By participating in City Nature Challenge, you will not only learn more about local nature, but also help make your city a better place—for both people and other species. Nature is everywhere around us, and understanding where species live helps us study and protect them. This can only be achieved through collaboration between scientists, experts, and citizens working together to document nature in our area.
Last year, 690 cities from 51 countries participated worldwide. This year, the event is also taking place in Croatian cities including Zagreb, Rijeka, and Prelog, as well as in Karlovac County.
In Croatia, the co-organizers include:
- Public Institution Nature of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County
- Public Institution Međimurje Nature
- Public Institution Natura Viva Karlovac County
- Public Institution Nature of the City of Zagreb
- Association “Amateur Scientists”
- Croatian Agency for Environment and Nature
You can participate through the programme of the Hrvatski prirodoslovni muzej or individually, with family or friends.
The Hrvatski prirodoslovni muzej will announce later when and where it will join City Nature Challenge activities.
