FREYWILLE takes us on one last walk through the old Croatian Natural History Museum

Presentation of the new FREYWILLE collection Hommage à Sophie Taeuber-Arp

Through an interesting collaboration, FREYWILLE and the Croatian Natural History Museum encourage us not to forget all the museum and cultural institutions in Croatia that were damaged in the earthquakes of March 2019 and December 2020, many of which are temporarily closed and awaiting repair.

Like a sleeping beauty, the Upper Town Amadeo Palace briefly opened its doors once again for FREYWILLE before the start of the renovation that will give it a new appearance by 2023.

Martin Glavinić, expert associate for marketing and public relations at the Croatian Natural History Museum, led FREYWILLE and the beautiful Elena Dizdar on an unforgettable walk through the abandoned museum rooms.

Ante Odak captured it all through the lens of his camera in an interesting photo story, through which FREYWILLE also premieres its new jewelry collection Hommage à Sophie Taeuber-Arp, Dada Dance.

In this way, FREYWILLE and the Croatian Natural History Museum take us on a journey where the only reality is the reality of one’s own imagination, where the past, present and hope for a wonderful future meet, and where different artistic periods and forms of artistic expression intertwine.

As the Dadaists would say, it is a liberation and a journey into the unknown realm of the creative spirit.

In Martin’s stories, all the collections came to life, as did the spirits of the first Croatian museum professionals: Spiridon Brusina, Gjuro Pilar and Dragutin Gorjanović-Kramberger, founders of various natural history disciplines and specialized museum departments — the natural history departments of the National Museum.

In FREYWILLE’s Dada Dance jewelry collection, Sophie Taeuber-Arp comes to life, one of the most important representatives of abstraction in Swiss painting.

Together with her husband H. Arp, she participated in the founding of the avant-garde Dada group in Zurich in 1916. Her works of art can be found in many renowned museums and galleries around the world, among which the wooden head of her husband, “Dada”, displayed at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, particularly stands out.

FREYWILLE found inspiration for its new collection Hommage à Sophie Taeuber-Arp, Dada Dance in her painterly masterpiece from 1932, entitled Quatre espaces à cercles rouges roulants.

The abstract geometric design was launched as two sets: Dada Dance Day and Dada Dance Evening.

The Day set brings to life the original colors and forms through which Taeuber-Arp expressed herself in her artwork. It consists of striking jewelry pieces that attract attention with strong colors painted on the surface of fired enamel.

It is a magical harmony of emerald green, bright red, mysterious black, royal blue and rich gold, which will perfectly suit all admirers of the avant-garde, as well as all brave and daring women.

The Evening set is perfect for minimalist and refined combinations. It calms with geometric blocks in delicate shades of grey, light blue and earthy tones, while adding a dynamic twist through the interplay of mysterious black and luxurious gold.

The FREYWILLE collection Hommage à Sophie Taeuber-Arp can be viewed and tried on exclusively in FREYWILLE boutiques, including the one in Zagreb at Preradovićeva 2.
