The first exhibit in the new museum display

A year and a half after the beginning of the renovation, the Croatian Natural History Museum is installing the first exhibit in its new permanent display.

A block of karstified limestone from Brač, weighing more than 9 tons, will be the first to find its place in the new Museum display.

The karstified limestone with a cavern will be displayed as a tactile exhibit illustrating the karst underground of the Dinarides.

The sample, extracted from the Pučišća quarry on the island of Brač and donated by the company Jadrankamen, will become part of the sedimentary rock collection.

Due to the complexity of the logistical operation, the installation of this attractive exhibit is being carried out before the building’s wall structure is completed.
