World Space Week at the Croatian Natural History Museum

World Space Week at the Croatian Natural History Museum
4 – 10 October 2017.

Join us in celebrating World Space Week, which is marked every year from 4 to 10 October in around 80 countries worldwide.

World Space Week is organized by the World Space Week Association (WSWA), the world’s largest space-related educational organization. The initiative for its establishment and the launch of the programme was given by the United Nations, the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS), and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UN OOSA).

Programme:

4 – 10 October 2017

In the Mineralogical and Petrographic Display, visitors can view a section dedicated to extraterrestrial matter. Alongside a model of the Solar System, a unique collection of meteorites found in Croatia is on display. Find out where and when they fell!

The display includes part of the original and a replica of our best-known complete meteorite – the Hrašćina meteorite, as well as a poster illustration of its fall in 1751.

A special highlight!

On the occasion of World Space Week, grains of Moon dust brought to Earth in 1969 by the crew members of the Apollo 12 spacecraft will also be displayed.

Workshop duration: 2 hours
