Rucner butterfly collection

This natural history collection is a closed collection. It consists of dry-preserved butterfly specimens collected in the mid-20th century in Croatia. The collection is housed in 10 entomological drawers (45 × 30 cm) stored in a single cabinet within the entomological repository of the Zoological Department.

The collection was assembled through the collecting activities of the Croatian musician and amateur entomologist Dragan Rucner. It reflects the state of butterfly fauna, primarily in the Zagreb area, during that period. Its scientific value lies in the possibility of comparing historical and present-day faunal conditions.

The collection was donated to the museum in 1997.
